Cascadia Hotel & Suites News
Friends in Need program contributes over $4700 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society
Running during the December holiday period, the annual Friends In Need promotion offered travellers discounted room rates at Cascadia Hotel & Suites as well at more than 20 hotels across Canada, with $10 from each night’s stay going to local charities. This year, the company has surpassed their program goal of raising $1,000,000 in total donations. To ensure the goal was met, each hotel did additional fundraising activities such as jeans day, 50/50, BBQs, bottle drives, restaurant specials and much more. The Cascadia Hotel & Suites also raised an additional $200 through a Garage Sale for hotel staff.

Greener Than Ever
Cascadia Hotel & Suites was recently featured in The Hotel & Restaurant Suppliers Association publication! See below for an excerpt from the article.

In the past five years alone, the industry’s attitude towards sustainable business practices has gone from simple conversations to wide-spread innovative advances and programs. Cascadia Hotel & Suites in Vancouver, BC, managed by SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, was the first hotel in Canada to adopt a 100 per cent Zero Waste Policy in 2009 and the results are inspiring.

NEW Zero Waste Program – a Vancouver Green Hotel
Cascadia Hotel & Suites is committed to programs and best practices that support hotel associates, the environment and our local community. Our hotel’s Zero Waste Program is a new way of looking at our waste stream. Instead of seeing used materials as garbage in need of disposal, discards are seen as valuable resources. A pile of trash represents jobs, financial opportunity, and raw materials for new products. Service containers are located throughout the hotel for three streams of materials: mixed container recycling, organic recycling containers and alternative recovery. New Hotel Name in Vancouver
In February, the hotel was rebranded from the Residence Inn by Marriott to Cascadia Hotel & Suites. The new name reflects the hotel’s central location and pays homage to the West Coast lifestyle where the living is easy and stylish and the excitement of a vibrant city is just outside your door. Testimonials
We truly enjoyed the hotel and its facilities. The business centre was excellent and found that
the pool and kids room helped to entertain our little ones. The room service meals were excellent
and the portions large, which is a great combination.
